ACCLAIM's School Dress Code Information

PHILOSOPHY - We want to create an environment at ACCLAIM in which students can focus on learning. We believe that every student's worth is based on the content of their character, not what they wear. This dress code encourages modesty and self-discipline and is simple to manage.

DRESS CODE:
Clothes must be clean and neat. They cannot be torn, tattered, suggestive, interfere with the educational process nor present a safety hazard. They cannot display logos, name brands, pictures, symbols, etc.

STANDARD TOPS:

•Burgundy, hunter green, white, black or khaki polo shirt, dress shirt, or collared blouse (long or short sleeved); simple cotton/polyester uniform style, not satin, velvet, lace, etc.; no fancy buttons
•Must be the student's size (not tight or baggy).
•Must be tucked in at the waist at all times.
•Undershirts must be solid white and sleeves must be shorter than the shirt sleeves.


STANDARD BOTTOMS:

•Uniform style khaki or black pants, shorts, skirts, skorts or capris. No bell bottoms, hip huggers, cargo or carpenter pants. No denim (jean), corduroy, or stretchy material.
•Must be belted if it has belt loops, and not sag or hang on the hips.
•Shorts must be no longer than the knee; pants must not drag on the ground.

OUTERWEAR:

May be any color or design if worn outside the building.

FOOTWEAR:

•Shoes must be black, white, or brown or any combination of these colors, conservative in style, have a closed toe and heel. No platforms or thick sole/tread.
•Tennies are acceptable. Above criteria apoply. Name brands are acceptable.
•Shoes must be tied appropriately at all times.
•Socks must be worn with shoes. They must be clearly visible above the top of the shoes. They may be black or white. They may have a black or white logo

HATS:
May be worn outside the building for protection from the sun.

JEWELRY:
•Jewelry is to be simple, conservative and kept to a minimum (one necklace, one bracelet, and one ring)
•Earrings must be studs (not hoops, etc.), only one per ear, and only in the earlobe.
•Ankle bracelets are not allowed.

HAIR:
•Hair is to be clean, neat, and conservative in style. No shaving of the head or cutting designs into the hair.
•Coloring of the hair and glitter hair spray are not permitted

MAKE-UP:
•Make-up is allowed for seventh and eighth graders. It must be natural in appearance.
•Colored contact lenses are not permitted.
•Nail polish, if used, must be conservative in color. Fake nails are not allowed.

TATTOOS & BODY ART are not permitted.
